Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • ​U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. 
     

  • ​High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following:

    • ​Minimum sixty college semester hours from an accredited institution by the application deadline

    • Or two years of active military service with an honorable discharge by the application deadline date.
       

  • ​A full-time Police Officer in good standing with 2 or more years of service, and no break in service of 6 months or more.

Salary and Benefits
$15,000.00 Hiring Bonus

  • $99,946-$126,464 (Lateral-Entry)
     

  • Laterals may be hired at a higher pay (up to $116,921) based on Law Enforcement service 
     

  • ​8-Hour Shifts
     

  • ​9 Days Off Monthly w/ Day Off Schedule Picks
     

  • ​Overtime Detail Opportunities at $91.20/hour​

  • Proof of completion of the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test with an attainment date less than twelve months
     

  • Complete a ride along with a Village of Skokie Police Officer
     

  • Correctable vision to 20/20 and the ability to distinguish colors
     

  • No residency requirement
     

  • Enter into an "Authorization for Release of Personal Information Agreement," an "Abstinence from Tobacco Products Agreement"
     

  • Must have the ability to comprehend the English Language (written and spoken)
     

  • Must possess or be eligible to possess before hire, a valid FOID card
     

  • Visible tattoos are now permitted with some restrictions
